As we come to the end of 2012, and with the apparent ‘end of the world’ looming today, I thought I’d take the opportunity to reflect over the past year I’ve had, and oh my, it’s been a good one!The year got off to a bang when I jetted off to Madrid to play some shows over there. I met some of the most wonderful people, and I think I fell in love at least four times! I also played a handful of Uk shows including the Electronic Rumors party alongside The Sound of Arrows and This Must Be Pop alongside A*M*E which were both great shows.May saw the release of ‘Neon/Tears In The Rain’. Im still ridiculously proud of that whole package, in particular the video that I shot with Between Man & Beast. It’s my favourite visual I’ve done thus far, and perfectly captured the aesthetic I wanted for the song. The summer was a washout in many ways, but it did bring some of the most amazing moments of my life to date. I was lucky enough to play Wireless Festival in Hyde Park alongside the likes of Nicki Minaj, Rita Ora and Drake, which was a dream come true. I played the official Bristol Pride afterparty later that month with Horseplay, and wow, what an experience. Quite possibly the best crowd I’ve ever played for, it was a special night. August saw London host the 2012 Olympics, and I had the honour of performing, once again in Hyde Park as part of the BT London Live celebrations, hosted around the city. This gig was the highlight of my 2012, the atompsphere, the excitement, and the pride of playing in the home city. Performing directly after Mo Farah won his 2nd Gold medal will be a moment I’ll never forget.The end of summer brought my collaboration single with Kissy Sell Out, Manchester Pride, Broadtown Big Gig festival and an amazing performance at Vogue’s Fashion Night Out, where I commandeered the Benetton store and sang for the crowds on Oxford Street.Autum took me, yet again, away from the UK, and this time onto the bright lights of NYC for the Neon Gold/All things go CMJ showcase. The big apple didn’t disappoint and, I also had a quick pit stop in stunning Washington to meet the President ;) and perform for the lovely US folk. So much fun, and many memories.To finish off the year, I brought you ‘Warrior’ and with every EP, must come the EP launch party! The Sebright Arms, Dalston saw me perfom Warrior live for the first time, along with a bunch of new tracks, and even a sneaky acoustic number.And speaking of acoustic, after huge support from BBC introducing this year, I was invited to perfom live on the show, and chose to strip back ‘Warrior’ to it’s bare bones. The response was amazing, and it was nice to get recognition from the lovely folk back home! Big love!   So, thats it! Aside from some amazing parties, and features this year- The Independent, Music Week, MTV, 10 Magazine, Pop Justice, RWD Mag, Idol Mag, Notion, MuMuse, 10 Magazine  it’s safe to say, I’ve crammed a lot in! I have so much to be thankful for. To everyone who has joined me along the way, thank you! After the high concept of ‘Neon’, the inspiration behind this video was to do something more akin to a fashion film, stripped back and focussed on both the performance and the drama of the track, and one that let the song speak for itself whilst conveying the emotion behind it. I was lucky enough to work with acclaimed fashion photographer Elliott Morgan, who has shot for the likes of Ponystep, Fiasco and Idol, who helped make my vision a reality.

Well, what a crazy week! Things have been a bit insane at QOH HQ in the run up to ‘Warrior’ being released!First up, I headed back to my West Country roots this week to do a live session for BBC Introducing. I decided to strip the tracks right back to their bare bones, and performed two songs - ‘Like A Drug’ and my new single ‘Warrior’, with just an acoustic guitar for accompaniment. It’s a bit out of my electro pop comfort zone - but I’ve been overwhelmed by the support I’ve  received for it! So, It’s been a big/hectic week at QOH HQ, here’s what I’ve been up to:

First of all, I debuted my brand new single ‘Warrior’. I wanted to create something a bit different, something more atmospheric than you’ve heard from me before, that sonically reflects my life right now, and so this song is really special to me. I co-wrote it with my dear friend and incredibly talented producer Diamond Cut (who I did ‘Where Are You Now’ with) - I really hope you like it!

Secondly, I headed off to the states last week for my first shows there, which was extremely nerve wracking. First I headed to DC where I played a headline show at DC9 in conjunction with the amazing guys at All Things Go. Thank you to everyone who came down - it was a great show, and I’ve completely fallen in love with Washington. Then I travelled over to New York where I played Neon Gold and All Things Go’s CMJ showcase alongside the likes of Alex Winston, Savoir Adore and Ghost Beach. I was so honoured to be part of such an awesome line-up, and despite being VERY nervous, it was a fantastic show!

So, to the future, the video for ‘Warrior’ is coming! It was filmed just before I headed over to the US on a freezing cold beach in Kent. It was such a fun shoot, so I can’t wait to show you guys the results. ALSO - I’ve just announced a headline show in London to coincide with the release of ‘Warrior’. I’m going to be premiering lots of new material, as well as playing some of the favourites, so make sure you come down and bust a move or two with me! Tickets can be bought here - they’re only £3.50, which less than the price of a drink, so NO excuses! ♥

The olympics are over, but what a week it’s been in Team QOH!

First up, mid last week I released my cover of Ben Howard’s ‘Only Love’. It’s one of my favourite songs of the year, and so I’ve been eager to get hold of it and give it a little QOH twist for a while. It was all done and produced fairly quickly, and I’ve been overwhelmed by the reaction - over 4000 plays on Soundcloud already, and a host of press from the likes of Popjustice, Digital Spy, MuuMuse, EQ, Hit The Floor, RWD and more. If you haven’t heard it listen now!

Following that I headed to Hyde Park for the second time this summer to play at BT London Live. I was lucky enough to perform right after Mo Farah won us a gold in the 5000m and it was an amazing feeling. The crowd were incredible and I felt very proud to be british.
 
I also stuck around to watch the Dems boys, who played an amazing set straight after mine, turning our Bandstand stage into a little electro den for the afternoon.

With ‘Only Love’ and ‘You’re Not The One’ - my collaboration with Kissy Sell Out - doing the rounds at the moment, there’s a lot of Queenie floating around, but keep your ears peeled, because there’s more new music to come!

I’ve been watching the Olympics and cheering on Team GB, and I’m insanely proud of what a great show we’re putting on in London at the moment. I’m honoured to be part of the Olympics in some way - please do come down and show your support. As well as myself there’s loads of activities and all the sport on giant screens around the park, so it’s well worth a day out.As well as that, I’ve just added some more exciting gigs to the schedule. On August 25th, I’ll be venturing out of London and heading to manchester to play Manchester PRIDE! A few months ago I had the pleasure of writing and recording with superstar DJ and producer Kissy Sell Out. I love collaborating with other musicians, and it was definitely one of the more fun collabs I’ve done.

I’m excited to say that the result of that session, ‘You’re Not The One’ will be Kissy’s next single, and will be released on 3rd September featuring my dulcet tones.
